After completing additional graduate work and a teaching assistantship at UW-Milwaukee, I proceeded to accept a faculty position at MATC teaching economics in the Liberal Arts and Science division.

MATC had a quiet academic environment and a nice staff, which was very kind and helpful. I taught several classes including Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, and Introductory Economics. Most of my classes at MATC were small, which gave me the opportunity to work with each student individually and become aware of possible problems and difficulties that my students may have had with the course materials.

Despite the fact that all classes were three hours long and were held in the early morning or evening, I was nonetheless able to find ways to teach and communicate the material successfully by interactively engaging the students. In fact, more generally, I learned how to deal with a wide diversity of students who ranged in age from those freshly out of high school to parents having teenagers at home.

All in all, I had great memories from MATC during the three years that I was employed there, and never forgot the first place I worked as a teacher here in the United States.
